Bunia Parker is a principal at Summit Commercial. He has worked as a Broker for over 13 years, specializing in Office and Retail. During his career, Bunia has had a vast amount of experience with landlord and tenant representation, as well as the disposition and acquisition of properties. He provides valuable insight to municipalities, non-profits, courts, school districts, national retailers and developers during facility planning and implementation. Bunia also has vast experience assisting bank asset managers with the successful disposition of their REO properties.
Mr. Parker has represented the City of Detroit in its lease negotiations for several departments such as the Police Department, Health Department, Finance Department, and Office of Inspectors General. He has represented the City of Detroit in the disposition and acquisition of numerous properties within their portfolio. Mr. Parker was also the Director of Leasing for approximately 2.25 million square feet in the Central Business District of Detroit for over 2 years. His vast portfolio included The First National Building (800,000sf), The Penobscot Building (1,000,000sf), and Cadillac Towers (450,000sf) – prime real estate within the Downtown Detroit area. He was also responsible for leasing the excess space in the new Federal Reserve Bank building. Bunia completed over 300,000sf of transactions within this portfolio. Most recently, he represented the Buyer in the purchase of Downtown Detroit’s Marquette Building (175,000sf) and now oversees all leasing and property management activity for this office building.
Bunia sits on various non-profit boards, so his insight into how non-profit organizations operate and how they function within space provides his clients with a unique perspective to maximize operational efficiency in their current and/or proposed projects, while seeking to minimize costs. He is the current Chairman of the board for the Village of Bethany Manor (Part of the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan). He is also on the Facilities Committee for Presbyterian Villages of Michigan. Bunia also sits on the retail advisory board of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and he is the Past President of the Renaissance High School Alumni Association.
Bunia has represented various clients such as the City of Detroit, 36th District Court, Comerica Bank, Accretive Health (NYSE: AH), Fresenius Medical Care (NYSE: FMS), Heritage Vision Plans, Wingstop Restaurants, Jersey Mike’s, Laborer’s Local 334, United States Air National Guard, Travelers Aid Society, Bassett & Bassett and McDonalds, USA.
Bunia graduated from Duke University with a BA in Economics and African Studies. He also minored in Marketing and Management. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
