Role and Responsibilities Ben Smith is a Principal of Summit Commercial and is a real estate professional with over 22 years of experience in the commercial industry. His responsibilities consist of overseeing daily business operations and generating leads for brokerage, development, and property management opportunities. Ben also specializes in office, industrial, and retail sales/leasing, as well as, municipal property acquisition / disposition services. He has closed several multi-million-dollar transactions including the sale of the former Detroit Free Press HQ, American Community Insurance HQ, and the sale of a major health organizations headquarters. Work Experience Ben was formerly a Project Manager with DEGC where he helped supervise and manage several of Detroit’s economic development projects. These numerous construction and development projects included the $125 million Land Acquisition and Waterfront Reclamation Project; as well as, directing all architectural, construction, and City approval activities for the $14 million dollar riverfront promenade project. Ben also participated in the EPA, MDEQ, and City of Detroit environmental remediation plan which developed an 80-acre industrial site that laid the foundation for the eventual relocation of three waterfront cement plants. Ben previously served as the Vice President of Brokerage and development for NAI Farbman. His responsibilities included directing land acquisition activities for large corporate clients, approving purchase agreements, clearing title, and directing development activities. He regularly interacted with various City Depts. Regarding development projects, and was responsible for negotiating permit approvals, variances, zoning waivers, and local tax incentives for a variety of projects. As a Principal of Summit Commercial, he has helped guide the company through numerous transactions including the sale/leasing of several office buildings, retail shopping centers, apartments, industrial developments, medical buildings, educational facilities and vacant land. His team has played a strategic role in the disposition of approximately 1,200 City of Detroit real estate parcels, successfully returning these properties to the City's tax rolls. These efforts have generated approx. $30 MM in revenue for the City, increased tax revenue, increased property values in several key areas, spurred private development and eliminated considerable blight. His team currently has several million in City real estate under contract in the Brush Park/Midtown area of Detroit, slated for tens of millions in residential & mixed-use development. Role and Responsibilities Jerome Eagger is a seasoned real estate professional that has developed a great deal of knowledge over four decades of real estate experience in the commercial industry. Jerome has participated in countless development, property management, construction and brokerage assignments during his extensive career. Work Experience Jerome is currently a partner at Summit Commercial LLC, a commercial real estate firm that specializes in the sale and leasing of commercial properties, including office, retail, educational, medical, multi-family and industrial properties. Jerome oversees day to day business operations and generating leads for brokerage, property management and development opportunities. For the past four years Jerome and the Summit Commercial team have represented the City of Detroit and the Detroit Building Authority in the sale and management of all of the City’s surplus commercial real estate. Jerome has been involved with both property management and real estate brokerage sales of over 7,000 City owned parcels. At the inception of this project, there were very few comparable sales within Detroit to establish current market values. Jerome’s real estate experience on this assignment has played an instrumental role in helping to re-establish a vibrant real estate market within the City. Through these efforts, several communities throughout the City, including Midtown, New Center, Corktown and countless neighborhoods are obtaining record level sale values that have exceeded past sales. Mr. Eagger was formerly a Vice President of Development for the Farbman Group, a national full-service real estate company, for over 12 years. In that capacity, he was responsible for over 100 million dollars of construction and development work receiving numerous architectural and development awards and acknowledgement for the completion of substantial projects throughout Michigan. Role and Responsibilities Bunia is currently a principal Broker at Summit Commercial. He has worked as a broker for over 16 years, specializing in Office, Retail, and Land. During his career, Bunia has had a vast amount of experience with landlord and tenant representation, as well as the disposition and acquisition of properties. He has represented municipalities, non-profits, courts, school districts, national retailers and developers during facility planning and implementation. Bunia also has vast experience assisting bank asset managers with the successful disposition of their REO properties. Work Experience Mr. Parker has represented the City of Detroit in over a million square feet of lease and acquisition transactions. He has represented the City in the lease negotiations of several departments such as the Police Department, Health Department, Finance Department, and Office of Inspectors General. Bunia was responsible for the $18.5 Million disposition of a prime downtown Detroit Parking garage. He also administered the acquisition, development, management, leasing and eventual disposition of 243 W. Congress (Marquette Building). Bunia was the Director of leasing for approximately 2.25 million square feet in the Central Business District of Detroit for multiple years. His vast portfolio included The First National Building (800,000sf), The Penobscot Building (1,000,000sf), and Cadillac Towers (450,000sf), prime real estate within the Downtown Detroit area. Bunia has represented various large clients such as Heritage Vision Plans, 36th District Court, the State of Michigan, the City of Detroit, Comerica Bank, Detroit Public Schools, Laborer’s Local 334, United States Air National Guard, Travelers Aid Society, Wingstop Restaurants, Inc., Pie Five Pizza, and McDonalds, USA. The newest member to the team, Phil joined Summit Commercial after stepping down from a very successful 30+ year career in medical sales/marketing and training. Having worked with GSK, Intermune, Cylex, and CareDx Phil has done time in Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Oncology, Organ/Bone Marrow Transplant, and Capital Equipment. Throughout Phil has been a perennial top performer receiving countless sales awards and teamwork citations for every company and product he has represented. Prior to this Phil spent approximately 10 years in the field of Health Administration with the Sisters of Mercy Health Corporation in Human Resources and culminating as Ambulatory Care Manager. Phil holds an active real estate license and will in addition bring an acute sensitivity to the needs of medical professionals and medical facilities needing brokerage services. Originally from Highland Park Michigan, and a Mumford Highschool graduate, Phil was awarded his B.S. Human Resources Development from Oakland University, and M.S. Health Service Administration from the University of Detroit.
Chad Rhodes is a seasoned Real Estate investor and Entrepreneur, currently a Senior Associate at Summit Commercial LLC. Specializing in the Metro-Detroit area, he is well versed in the acquisition/disposition of Office and Retail real estate transactions. A former Partner at Lamont-Rhodes Title agency, Mr. Rhodes has profound insight in complicated Chain of Title transactions. A graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Detroit Country Day School alum, Mr. Rhodes earned a B.S. in both Civil Engineering and Natural Science through the prestigious dual-degree engineering program at Morehouse College and North Carolina A&T State University. Mr. Rhodes is committed to the rebirth of the City of Detroit and has been an active participant in the social, political, and philanthropic fabric of metro Detroit. Mr. Rhodes is Detroit Regional Chamber, Leadership Detroit class XXV, charter member of New Leaders Council Detroit, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Legacy Associates Foundation, Lifting As We Climb Foundation and Morehouse College Alumni Association.
Jason resides in a historic Detroit district, graduated from UM Ann Arbor and WSU Law before his career in corporate real estate. He managed the EMEA and AP regions for a global manufacturer including 10 years overseas and 1 Billion in completed transactions in such markets as Russia, Turkey, Morocco, China, Japan, India. He specialized in complex lease negotiations, acquisitions/dispositions and build-to-suit projects. Jason joined Summit in 2017 upon his return from Krakow, Poland.
